CALDWELL, Idaho – After a tightly contested first quarter, visiting LC State stretched a two-point lead to eight at halftime and 25 after three quarters of action on its way to a 61-42 win over the College of Idaho women's basketball team on Saturday.
The Yotes (3-11, 3-5 CCC) were led by an eight-point effort from
Mia Austin, who knocked down a pair of 3 pointers in the loss.
Anna Mooney came off the bench had a solid all-around game with seven points, five rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes of action.
The Warriors (11-2, 7-1 CCC) spread the scoring among nine players with a game-high 14 from Callie Stevens in the win. Teammate Ellie Sander added 11 to the winning effort. Both Stevens and Sanders each had a pair of 3-pointers in the win.
The two teams were tied on five occasions in the opening quarter before a layup by Sander with :43 left put the visitors ahead for the remainder of the contest.
The second quarter saw LC State score eight points in the bench and shoot 38.5% from the field on its way to a 31-23 lead at the break.
LC State took control of the contest in third quarter, outscoring the Yotes by a 24-7 margin. In the quarter, Stevens scored 10 of her 14 to put the game out of reach for the home team. The visitors went up by as much as 27 but the Yotes scored the final six points of the contest.
