CALDWELL, Idaho – A quick start by visiting Southern Oregon led the Raiders to a 77-59 win over College of Idaho women's basketball on Saturday.
Southern Oregon (15-4, 11-2 CCC) picked up 26 points, seven rebounds, and four assists from Kami Walk to go along with a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. Meghan McIntyre added 24 points and two assists in the win.
College of Idaho (5-15, 5-9 CCC) had three in double figures, including
Mia Austin (16),
Bryanna Graham (13), and
Brooke Beresford (12).
Despite the 10-3 run to start the game, College of Idaho rallied in the quarter and cut the deficit to one, 27-26, when Graham made a 3-pointer with 3:18 left in the second quarter. The Yotes went back and forth with the Raiders for the remainder of the quarter. SOU remained in the lead for the rest of the quarter on its way to a 32-28 lead at halftime.
The Raiders scored the first seven points – four of which came from McIntyre - of the second half to stretch the lead to 39-28 with 8:20 left in the third quarter. Later in the quarter, a jumper by Walk stretched the lead to double digits for the rest of the contest.
Despite the loss, College of Idaho shot 48.9% (23-for-47) from the field. 32 of the 59 points came in the point to go along with six 3-pointers – four of which came from Austin.
Next, the College of Idaho will travel to face Lewis & Clark on Friday, Feb. 2 at 5 p.m. and Walla Walla on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
