Junior Drew Wyman Makes Seven 3-Pointers to Lead No. 3 College of Idaho to 83-59 Win Over No. 24 Oregon Tech

CALDWELL, Idaho - College of Idaho knocked down 16 3-pointers - seven from Drew Wyman - as the host No. 3 College of Idaho took down No. 24 Oregon Tech, 83-59 on Friday night. The seven triples by Wyman paved the way to a 23-point effort in the win. Teammate Johnny Radford added three on his way to 14 points to complement an offensive barrage that saw C of I shoot 47.7% from the field and lead nearly from start to finish.

Oregon Tech (14-4, 9-3 CCC) was paced by a 12-point game by Kam Osborn and an 11-point effort from Blake Jensen.

Wyman hit his first of seven 3-pointers as the Yotes took the opening tip to set the stage for the trifecta. The game remained close and was tied at six when Wyman hit his second 3-pointer with 17:16 left in the first 20 minutes. Nearly one minute later, he had his third of the half as the Yotes would go on a decisive 18-2 run over the next three minutes that put the host Yotes ahead 24-8. The run put the lead at double digits for the rest of the contest.

Twice, OIT managed to cut the deficit to 11 in the half but a stingy defense and a solid shooting effort kept College of Idaho ahead for the rest of the game. College of Idaho shot 50% from the field in the first 20 minutes as they also knocked down 10 3-pointers in the half. Wyman hit four and Radford made all three of his in the first half.

The second half saw the visitors trim the lead to 13 but the Yotes were able to push the lead to as much as 30 en route to the win. The second half saw Wyman make all four of his shots from the field, including three more 3-pointers. Tyler Robinett made a pair of 3-pointers as the Yotes shot 50% from beyond the 3-point line in the half. Dougie Peoples made the only two free throws for College of Idaho. For Oregon Tech, Osborn scored 10 of his 12.

The last time that College of Idaho made 16 3-pointers was against Multnomah on February 4, 2023, and is the 22nd time in program history that the Yotes have made 16 in a contest. Wyman is the first Yote since Matt Ballenger on November 28, 2009 to make seven 3-pointers in a game. The win extends the winning streak for College of Idaho to 12 games – eight of which have been double digits. In six of the last seven games, College of Idaho has scored at least 47 points in the half and for the season on eight occasions. The contest marked just the second time on the season that the Yotes have been outrebounded. In the last four games and six times on the season, College of Idaho has made at least 14 3-pointers in the contest.

Up next for College of Idaho is a matchup against Southern Oregon, who handed the Yotes their lone loss in Cascade Collegiate Conference play in Ashland on December 1, 2023 by an 81-75 margin.
