Wyman Remains Potent as No. 3 College of Idaho Takes Down SOU, 82-50

CALDWELL, Idaho – Junior Drew Wyman wrapped up his weekend, making 9 of 12 shots from the field on his way to 22 points to lead No. 3 College of Idaho to an 82-50 win over Southern Oregon.

Wyman, who hit seven 3-pointers on Friday, made four more on Saturday in the win. It was not just Wyman as he was joined in double figures by Alex Germer, who had 11 and a pair of 10-point efforts from Samaje Morgan and Tyler Robinett. With the win, College of Idaho avenges its loss to Southern Oregon to begin CCC play as the Yotes improve to 18-2 overall and 13-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference as they extend their winning streak to 13.

Dominic McGarvey had 11 and Carson Rouse added 10 as Southern Oregon falls to 12-7 overall and 10-3 in league play.

Wyman hit his first of four 3-pointers to start the game as College of Idaho began the game on a 9-2 run. The early run put the host Yotes ahead for the remainder of the game. The lead would balloon to as large as 34 in the win.

Later in the half, Wyman knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Yotes ahead 28-17 and up by a double-digit margin for the rest of the game. College of Idaho scored 10 of the final 12 points of the first 20 minutes for a 40-22 lead at the break. The 18-point lead at the intermission is the fifth-straight and 12th on the season for the Yotes by a double-digit margin.

The Great Falls, Montana native started the second half with a thunderous dunk that quickly squashed the comeback hopes for the Raiders. Later in the half, the Yotes sealed the win with a 21-6 run for a 72-41 lead with 8:45 left to play. Wyman and Germer each scored eight points in the final 20 minutes.

For the game, College of Idaho outscored Southern Oregon 36-14 on points in the paint and 30-11 in bench points with a 21 to 9 advantage in the second half. In the win, the Yotes continued to its strong play at the charity stripe with a 12-for-14 effort for 85.7%. College of Idaho has made at least ten 3-pointers in its last five games and had at least ten assists in the last eight games. The nine field goals by Wyman ties a season-high by a Yotes individual. In holding Southern Oregon to 50 points, it was the fourth time this season that an opponent scored 50 or less.

Next on the schedule for College of Idaho is a matchup against fellow CCC co-leader LC State on Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. The Yotes will enter the game with a five-game winning streak in the series.
