Brooke Beresford had her second double double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 59-51 loss to host Bushnell on Saturday.
College of Idaho (4-12, 4-6 CCC) found itself behind for the entire contest but that did not tell the whole story as the Yotes rallied behind a deficit to as large as 15 in the contest.
Emma Anderson complemented the efforts by Beresford with six points and a team-high 13 rebounds.
Bushnell (9-6, 5-4 CCC) were able to land four in double figures, including Aspen Sifka who had a game-high 21 points. She was joined in double figures by Ayden Krupke (11), Mandy Sisul (10) and Libby Mathis (10). Mathis grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds.
The host Beacons started the game on a 10-2 run en route to a 19-8 lead after the first 10 minutes. The second quarter saw the two teams clamp down on defense as Bushnell scored seven points and College of Idaho scored six. The Beacons shot 23.1% from the field, whereas the Yotes shot at a 27.3% clip.
The third quarter saw College of Idaho shoot 53.3% from the field as Beresford scored six and
Jada Reed added five in the quarter. In the quarter with an 11-point deficit, 31-20 with 6:20 left, College of Idaho scored the next 10 points to make it a one-point game, 31-30 when Beresford made a layup with 3:52 left in the quarter.
Bushnell answered the run with nine-straight to take a 40-30 lead over the next three minutes of the contest. The run took the wind out of the comeback hopes for the visitors. The lead for the home team remained double digits for nearly the rest of the contest.
Next, College of Idaho will return home to host Northwest on Friday, January 19 at 5:30 p.m.
