CALDWELL, Idaho - Following a win over SOU yesterday, the Yotes men's soccer team continued to post wins, taking down Oregon Tech by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.
The game provided constant offense, as both teams registered double digit shots in the game, with OIT having the narrow edge of 11-10 in the shot department. The Owl offense was able to what the previous five opponents did not, and that was put the ball past the Yotes keeper. The 56th minute goal was the first goal allowed by
Tom Baynard-Smith so far this season.
For the Yotes,
Jorge Fernandez started early, scoring in just the 11th minute coming off an assist from
Ben Calam to give the Yotes a 1-0 lead early.
Joao Bastos made quite the impact off the bench, registering three points on the day, the first two of which came on a goal in the 34th minute to give the Yotes a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.Â
Just under seven minutes into the second half,
Hugo Gutierrez recorded the first goal of his Yotes career, making it a 3-0 game. Following Pasang's goal for the Owls in the 56th minute, Hunter Hoogerwerf was able to put the ball in the back of the net for the Owls, making it a 3-2 lead in favor of the Yotes, which would eventually hold to be the final.
The Yotes will look to add to their seven game win streak when they travel to play Providence on Friday.
