Big Second Half Leads No. 12 College of Idaho to 45-21 Homecoming Win

CALDWELL, Idaho - The No. 12 College of Idaho offense racked up 278 yards of total offense and outscored Rocky Mountain, 35-0 in the second half en route to a 45-21 homecoming win on Saturday.

Jon Schofield scored his first of three touchdowns with 3:14 left in the first half to send the host Yotes into halftime with momentum despite a 21-10 deficit. Schofield found the end zone twice in the third quarter to put College of Idaho ahead for the first time on the day. Schofield took a shovel pass from Andy Peters with 2:16 left in the third quarter put the Yotes ahead 24-21.

With a three-point lead, in the fourth quarter, the second drive of the quarter, saw Peters call his own number for a 57-yard touchdown run. The 57-yard touchdown run is the fifth longest by a Yotes quarterback in program history.

He was not the only quarterback to find the end zone as Caden Young helped stretch the College of Idaho lead to 38-21 when he ran it in from four yards out. On the next drive, Young found Brock Richardson for a 24-yard touchdown pass for the final margin.

Peters completed 18 of 39 passes for 229 yards and a touchdown to go along with nine carries for a career-best 109 yards and a touchdown in the win. It is his second 100-yard game of the season. It is the fourth-straight three touchdown effort by Schofield. Defensively, Willie Nelson and Jacob Arms each made nine stops as the Yotes held the
Battlin' Bears to 235 yards – 137 of which came in the first half – of total offense.

Rocky Mountain built a 21-3 as they scored on their first three drives of the game until Schofield and Peters marched down the field on a five play, 62- yard drive just before halftime to cut into the Battlin' Bears lead.

Next, College of Idaho will face a first time foe and Frontier Conference newcomer Arizona Christian on Saturday, October 7 at 7 p.m. (MT).
