CORVALLIS, Ore. – College of Idaho's
Sage Martin (Meridian, Idaho) was named the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference RIZE Laboratory Female Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
At the most recent 2023 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Martin won an individual national title in the 3000m steeplechase, recording the fourth fastest time in championship history. Later in the day, she picked up her second All-American honor with an eighth-place finish in the 5000. Also in outdoor track and field, Martin won the 3000m steeplechase and was fourth in the 5000 at the 2023 CCC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. On the indoor circuit, she was an All-American as a member of the distance medley relay and also earned All-American honors with a fifth-place finish in the mile.
"We are so happy for Sage, all of her hard work and dedication is paying off. She was so consistent and trusted in what we were doing all year, and it's great to see her be rewarded for it," said College of Idaho head coach Dominic Bolin.
Martin joins past winners including Tiana Thomas in 2016, Hillary Holt in 2013 and 2014.
