La Grande, Ore. - The final day of the Cascade Collegiate Conference track and field championships saw the College of Idaho women's track and field team finish third with 158 points..
University of British Columbia took the team title with 189 pts., followed by Eastern Oregon (167.5 points) to round out the top three teams.
The final day saw
Kahea Figueira make a move in the final lap of the 5000 to move ahead of Alejandra Lopez of Southern Oregon to win the conference title crossing the line in 17:56.42. Teammates Ellyse Tinglestad were third (18:11.24),
Sage Martin was fourth (18:16.26) and
Larissa Mauer was fifth (18:31.84).
In one of the closest races of the championship,
Abbey Shirts won the 800 in 2:11.30 by .19 over her counterpart from UBC.
Sage Wood earned all-conference honors in the 100m dash with a third-place finish, eclipsing the school record in 12.08. Teammate
Charlotte Bowman was fourth (12.26) to secure five points in the team race. Earlier in the day, Wood picked up another all-conference honor with a second place clearance in the pole vault, clearing 10-11.75 (3.35m). Wood matched the school record in the 200m dash with a fourth-place finish in the 200, crossing the line in 24.96. Bowman was eighth in 25.57 place finish.
In the field events, the Yotes picked up team points with three place winners in the triple jump led by an all-conference performance by
Sophi Clay, who was third (36-9.5 / 11.21m). Jada Kinser was fifth (36-2.25 / 11.03m) and
Sara Vanderwyk was eighth (35-6.5 / 10.83m).
Plus, C of I got a fourth-place toss in the discus by
Taylor Durfey with a toss of 127-6 (38.91m) and sixth-place toss by
Star Herron with a throw of 122-8 (37.39m).
The meet saw the 4x400m relay team finish sixth in a time of 4:03.84.
