CALDWELL, Idaho -
Hutton Stiles provided some late game excitement, scoring the winning run to walk-off the No. 13 Lewis-Clark State Warriors, winning Friday night by a score of 3-2.
The Yotes saw multiple hit performances from each of the top four batters in the lineup in
Tristen Garland,
Jonah Hultberg,
Skyler Sadora, and
Alex McFarland-Smith. The Yotes offense was able to strike early, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Jonah Hultberg hit a double to left center field, scoring Garland from first base to score the first run of the game. Then
Skyler Sadora followed that up with a single to center, scoring Hultberg from second.Â
The Yotes were able to hold the lead until the top of the fifth inning, when Noah Weintraub doubled to left center, scoring Jordan Justice, which at the time was the first Warrior hit of the game. The Warriors were able to drive in the game-tying run as Pu'ukani De Sa hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Carter Booth, tying the game at two in the top of the eighth.Â
Heading into the tenth,
Kirby Robertson took the mound, allowing a double before striking out Nick Seamons and recording a fly out. In the bottom of the tenth,
Kris Kirkpatrick drew a walk, as
Hutton Stiles became the pinch runner. Stiles would advance to second on a wild pitch, and a balk from Cameron Smith advanced him to third with one out. Following a strikeout from Denison, Stiles would score on a wild pitch as the Yotes walked it off, winning 3-2.
Nick Eliason had himself a remarkable performance on the mound, pitching eight innings while striking out 10 LCSC batters, only allowing three hits. Eliason held the Warriors hitless through 4.1 innings in the win.
Kirby Robertson was tabbed with the win, improving his record to 5-2. Cameron Smith earned the loss, dropping his record to 3-2.
The Yotes and Warriors will face off in a doubleheader taking place tomorrow at Wolfe Field.
