ASHLAND, Ore. - College of Idaho senior
Roby Young led three members of the College of Idaho women's track and field team with a seventh-place finish at the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Track & Field Multi-Event Championship on Friday. Young scored 4,209 points in the heptathlon, followed by
Graycee Litton, who was 11th (3,259 points) and
Rachel Pletcher, who was 12th (2,490 points). The 4,209 points are a NAIA "B" qualifying mark for the senior from Adrian, Oregon.
Rebecca Dutchak of the University of British Columbia took home first-place honors with 4,845 points to edge Abi Stevens of Southern Oregon, who picked up 4,720 points. Dutchak was the top performer in five of the seven events en route to the title. Her 4,845 points are the most in the NAIA in 2023 and exceed her personal best by 140 points.
Young began the two-day meet with a time of 16.40 in the 100m hurdles (666 points), followed by a clearance of 1.53m in the high jump (655 points), a throw of 9.23m in the shot put and a time of 27.09 for 704 points in the 200m to wrap up the first day on Thursday. On Friday, she started with a jump of 4.72m in the long jump (485 points), followed by a toss of 33.51m in the javelin for 543 points and wrapped up the event with a time of 2:31.30 in the 800m for 677 points for a total of 4,209 points.
Next, Young and the College of Idaho track and field teams will travel to the Bengal Invitational, April 28-29 in Pocatello before the post season begins.
