KEIZER, Ore. - The Yotes rounded out the weekend in rainy conditions taking place in Oregon, as the team would drop both games on Sunday by scores of 6-4 and 11-10.
Game One
Ben Gaff and
Jake Denison each tallied a pair of hits in the game, as Gaff would also drive in a run.
Kirby Robertson would go on to lead the team in RBIs in the first game of the day as he drove in a pair. The Yotes would score early in the first, as Gaff's lone RBI of the game would drive in
Jonah Hultberg as the Yotes took an early 1-0 lead. The Warriors would answer back with three runs as Keenan O'Brien singled to center field in the third, which drove in a pair, followed by Michon Cole scoring on a passed ball.
In the fourth inning,
Tristen Garland singled through the left side, scoring
Jordan Kelly on the play, making the game 3-2 in favor of Corban.
Kirby Robertson would then blast a two-run shot over the left center field fence as the Yotes would jump back in front by a run. The Warriors would then rally over the final four innings capped off by an O'Brien homer in the eighth inning as the Warriors would take it by a score of 6-4.
Nate Vidlak was tabbed with the loss as his record would drop to 1-3, pitching 5.2 innings in relief while striking out three. Giovanni Cervantes earned his first win of the season, pitching 2.2 innings in relief. Jaren Childs earned his second save of the season in the Warrior win.
Game Two
The second game of the doubleheader saw four Yotes record multiple hits with
Skyler Sadora and
Kirby Robertson each recording two RBIs. The Yotes would trail early as Corban got on the board in the bottom of the first on a Kyle Clay single and a Chris Grayson single as the Warriors would notch two runs in the inning. Robertson would answer back with an RBI single through the left side which scored
Ben Gaff as the Yotes would trail by one entering the third inning.
The Yotes would explode for eight runs in the third.
Alex McFarland-Smith got things started with an RBI single to center field. Gaff then proceeded to hit a double down the left field line which scored
Skyler Sadora. The big blow of the inning came on a two-RBI single by Sadora which drove in
Tristen Garland and
Kris Kirkpatrick. The Yotes offense in the inning was capped off by an error which scored
Jonah Hultberg.
The Warriors would then go on a tear, scoring eight of the next nine runs. The Warriors would drive home six runs in the sixth inning, in a game that had the Yotes leading 10-5 at the time. A two-RBI double by Brad Pellkofer got the Warriors to within two runs, and a balk scored Cole to drive in the eventual winning run in the sixth, as the Warriors would hold the lead for the remainder of the game, taking the nightcap by a score of 11-10.
Childs, following a save in game one, would get credited with the game two victory, while
Colby Durski was tabbed with the loss.
The Yotes will return for one final home series next weekend, honoring the seniors with a series with Bushnell starting on Saturday.
