KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The College of Idaho baseball team rounded out the weekend with another battle against the Oregon Tech Owls, managing a split, winning game one by a score of 16-11, and falling in game two, 7-6.
Game One
Tristen Garland continued his impressive weekend, adding another two-hit performance in game one.
Jonah Hultberg and
Ben Hansen also contributed with multiple hits in the contest. Garland scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch in the first inning, and that was followed up by a three-run tally in the second inning.
Ben Gaff tallied a run on a wild pitch, and
Dillon Danner and Garland each drove in runs on a single and double respectively.
The Owls would take the lead in the bottom of the second, taking an 8-4 lead after notching a five-run bottom of the inning. Garland would respond with an RBI single in the fourth inning.
Jonah Hultberg and
Skyler Sadora drove in runs in the fourth, as the Owls took an 8-7 lead heading into the fifth inning.Â
The Yotes used the later innings to strike offensively, tallying the final five runs of the game in the final three innings. The winning run would come on a
Skyler Sadora fielder's choice in the seventh, as the Yotes would drive in four more to secure a 16-11 win.
Nick Eliason was tabbed with the game one win, improving his record to 5-1 on the year. Cruz Hamilton was tabbed with the loss, his record dropping to 0-1.
Game Two
The College of Idaho saw a pair of multiple hit performances, as
Skyler Sadora tallied three hits while
Jake Denison tallied a pair. The first of Sadora's hits on the game came in the first inning on an RBI double, driving in
Jonah Hultberg. Denison's first base knock also drove in a run in the first, as Sadora would come around to score.
The Owls scored the next three runs of the game, taking a 3-2 lead heading into the seventh inning of play. The Yotes answered with a pair of runs in the seventh, as
Dillon Danner singled through the right side, scoring
Ben Hansen on the play.
Jonah Hultberg then fouled out to the right fielder, scoring
Ryan Blokker. In the eighth, Denison recorded an RBI single up the middle, scoring
Ben Gaff. The Owls would strike for four runs in the bottom of the eighth on a pair of doubles, leading Oregon Tech to a 7-6 win.
Landon Cheney saw his record improve to 1-0 on the year, pitching two innings while striking out a pair.
Colby Durski's record dropped to 3-2 in the loss, pitching just over an inning and allowing four runs.
The Yotes will return to the diamond to play Linfield in McMinnville next weekend.
