CALDWELL, Idaho - Four members of the No. 1 College of Idaho men's basketball team scored in double figures and a stifling defense that limited EOU to 26.7% shooting in the second half as the Yotes posted a 74-56 win on Tuesday night. The win secures the Yotes the regular season Cascade Collegiate Conference title for an 11th time and extends the win streak to 23.Â
College of Idaho (23-1, 18-0 CCC) went back and forth with the Mountaineers until
Tyler Robinett threw down a dunk on his way to a three-point play that put the host Yotes ahead 19-17 and for the remainder of the contest. Sophomore
Drew Wyman scored a game-high 20 points on 9 of 18 shooting from the field. He was joined in double figures by Robinettt, who added 14,
Samaje Morgan scored 12 and
Charles Elzie provided 10.Â
Eastern Oregon (15-9, 12-6 CCC) was led by Phillip Maltare, who scored 16 of his 18 in the first half for the Mountaineers as the visitors from La Grande led for 7:15 in the contest.Â
With a five-point lead at halftime, College of Idaho started the second half on a 11-1 run to stretch the lead to double digits for the remainder of the contest. The intensity of the defense for the Yotes saw College of Idaho hold its opponents to the second lowest output by a Yote opponent in 2022-23.Â
The win gives College of Idaho the longest winning streak in college men's basketball. The next test for the Yotes will be on Jam the JAAC night on Friday when they host Corban at 7:30 p.m.
