PORTLAND, Ore. - Seniors
Lexi Mitchell and
Sienna Riggle each had their sixth double double of the season to lead the College of Idaho women's basketball team to a 79-67 win over host Warner Pacific on Friday night.
With 10 rebounds, Mitchell moved four away from being the program all-time rebound leader to go along with 10 points for her 15
th career double double. Riggle scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her 13
th career double double.
Joining the one-two punch in double figures was
Bryanna Graham and
Riley Frith, who added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
College of Idaho (12-10, 7-9 CCC) started the game, shooting 64.7% (11-for-17) from the field on its way to the win.
Mia Austin, who was making her first collegiate start, hit back-to-back 3 pointers to put College of Idaho just 1:24 into the contest as the Yotes led for the remainder of the game.
Warner Pacific (1-21, 1-14 CCC) had three players in double figures in the loss. Paityn Rhode scored 15, McKeeley Tonkin added 13 and Kenna Coleman provided 12.
The Yotes controlled the game in the paint, outscoring the Knights by a 36-16 margin. Even with its potent play on the inside, College of Idaho hit 10 3-pointers in the win – it is the third-straight game and fifth time on the season that the Yotes have made double digit 3-pointers. College of Idaho grabbed 19 offensive rebounds – just one shy of its season-high of 20 in the earlier meeting against the Knights.
College of Idaho led after one quarter of play, 27-20 with 12 of the 27 coming in the paint for the early lead. The Yotes scored seven of the first 10 points of the second quarter for a double-digit lead, 34-23, on the host Knights. Six would be as close as Warner Pacific in the final 20 minutes.
Next, College of Idaho will face Multnomah on Saturday at 3 p.m. (PST)/4 p.m. (MT).
