Three Yotes Score in Double Figures in 64-55 Win Over Evergreen

OLYMPIA, Washington – The College of Idaho women's basketball team posted a 64-55 win over host Evergreen State on Saturday afternoon.

The Yotes (15-13, 10-12 CCC) landed three players in double figures, including Lexi Mitchell (13 points, 11 rebounds), who had her eighth double double of the season. Mitchell was joined in double figures by Mia Austin and Sienna Riggle, who added 17 and 14 points, respectively.
 
The Geoducks (8-16, 5-16 CCC) were led by Monique Bungay, who had a game-high 18 points in the loss.
 
College of Idaho controlled the contest from the tip as they scored the first five points of the game and led for 38:20 of the contest. After the early five-point lead, the Yotes maintained a lead as large as four in the opening quarter on its way to a 16-15 lead after the first 10 minutes. The second quarter saw the visitors stretch the lead to as much as 12 when they scored nine unanswered midway through the quarter. The second quarter saw the Yotes hold the Geoducks to 3-for-14 shooting and five turnovers. Also, in the quarter, Austin scored eight of her 17 as the Yotes went into halftime break with a seven-point lead, 32-27.
 
Evergreen captured a brief lead, 36-35, with 3:50 left in the third quarter. However, Mitchell and the Yotes had an answer as the senior from Middleton scored four-straight points to put College of Idaho back in front for the rest of the contest. The Yotes scored 10 of the final 13 points in the quarter on its way to 47-39 lead after three quarters of action. An 8-2 advantage on points in the paint in the fourth quarter for the visitors sealed the win for College of Idaho.
 
Next, College of Idaho will return to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament where it has been a fixture in the tournament reaching each season dating back to 1999-2000. The Yotes, who enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed, will face Southern Oregon - No. 3 seed on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. (PST)/6:30 p.m. (MT).
