Upset Minded College of Idaho Comes Up Short in 77-64 Loss to Southern Oregon

No. 3 seeded Southern Oregon scored the first 17 points in the fourth quarter to erase an eight-point deficit en route to a 77-64 win on Wednesday night.
 
The Yotes (15-14) were paced by a pair of sharp-shooting efforts by Mia Austin and Kenadee French, who made six and four 3-pointers, respectively. Austin finished the game with 20 points to lead College of Idaho, French added 14 and Lexi Mitchell added 10 points. Austin ends her freshman season with 63 3-pointers and a .444 3-point field goal percentage which is second all-time in program history.

The Raiders (23-6) were able to land four players in double figures, including Kami Walk who had a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead host SOU. Kalei Iwami added 14, Clara Robbins scored 13, Emma Schmerbach added 12 and Brianna Phiakhamngon provided 10.
 
College of Idaho started the game, shooting 19-for-39 for 48.7% through the first three quarters on its way to a lead as large as nine against SOU. Through the first 30 minutes, Austin scored 17 of her 20 and French scored all 14 to lead the visitors. Down 46-45 with 2:28 left in the third quarter, C of I went on a 12-3 run to end the third quarter for a nine-point lead. In the run, French knocked down a couple 3-pointers to spark the Yotes.
 
SOU started the fourth quarter, making seven of its first eight shots from the field to take a nine-point lead, 66-57 with 6:36 left in the game. Indicative of the season, the Yotes did not go away easy as they cut the deficit to as little as four but the Raiders ended the comeback hopes with a game-ending 11-2 run.

Next, Southern Oregon will face No. 2 seed Lewis-Clark State on Saturday, February 25th.
 
The game wraps up a record-setting career for Lexi Mitchell, Sienna Riggle and Kenadee French. Mitchell ends her career in the top 15 all-time in multiple categories: first in rebounds with 773, first in defensive rebounds with 517, third in games started with 95 and offensive rebounds with 256, sixth in minutes with 2797, eighth in field goals with 945, 11th in free throws attempted with 307, 13th all-time in field goals made with 327 and games played with 105, 14th all-time in scoring with 889 points, 14th in assists with 200 and 15th in free throws made with 194. Riggle finishes eighth in blocked shots with 72, ninth in free throws attempted with 352, 14th in free throws made with 197, 21st in points with 765. French finishes 10th in 3-point field goals attempted with 302, 12th in 3-point field goals made with 94.
