KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A game-high 19-point game by
Anna Mooney, who made four of six 3-pointers, was not enough as College of Idaho women's basketball dropped a 101-66 decision to host Oregon Tech on Saturday.
Mooney led the Yotes in scoring and she was joined in double figures by
McKenzie Hirsch, who added 10. College of Idaho (0-8, 0-2 CCC) hit 10 3-pointers in the loss.
Oregon Tech, who led from start to finish, were able to land four in double figures. Gabbie Gascon led the Owls with 14 points. Elli Kent added 13 off the bench to go along with a pair of 11-point efforts from Olivia Sprague and Alexis Elquist. The fourth in double figures was Kennedy Tull, who added 10.
The host Owls scored the first five points of the contest and used a stifling defense to complement a 59.7% (40-for-67) shooting in the win. After shooting 28.8% (5-for-18) in the second quarter, Oregon Tech came back to make 26 of its next 35 field goals, including a fourth quarter where they made 14 of 16 shots.
Despite the early deficit, twice in the opening quarter, College of Idaho managed to cut the deficit to four before the threats were quickly thwarted by Oregon Tech. The Owls spoiled the comeback hopes, scoring 14 of the first 15 points of the second quarter to push the lead to double digits for the remainder of the contest.
Next, College of Idaho will host Eastern Oregon on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. at the J.A. Albertson Activity Center.
