PORTLAND, Ore. – Multnomah led nearly the entire game en route to an 83-60 win over College of Idaho on Friday night.
The Lions (4-6, 1-3 CCC) were paced by a 29-point effort from Savannah Huerta, who hit six 3-pointers. She was joined in double figures by Marin Abe, who had 13 and Kailyn Allison, who added 17 points and 10 rebounds. Abe had nine assists and Huerta dished out six.
The Yotes (1-9, 1-3 CCC) were led by
Mia Austin and
Jada Reed, who had 12 and 11 points, respectively. Austin made four 3-pointers for her 10
th straight game with multiple 3-pointers on the season. Reed had a pair of 3-pointers and dished out six assists as College of Idaho had 16 assists on 22 field goals.
Brooke Beresford also had a solid contest with eight points and eight rebounds.
The two teams traded the lead for the first four minutes before Myka Taliman hit a jumper with 6:35 left in the opening quarter that put the Lions ahead 6-5 to spark a 15-5 run over the next five minutes. The run put host Multnomah ahead for the remainder of the contest.
Down eight at half, 41-33, College of Idaho scored eight of the first 10 points of the second half to make it a 43-41 game with 5:52 left in the third quarter. The Lions came back with a 3-pointer by Abe and Multnomah spoiled the comeback efforts with a 10-2 run to put the game out of reach for the visitors.
The Yotes will next face Warner Pacific on Saturday at 4 p.m. (MT)/3 p.m. (PST).
