Yotes Beat Multnomah in High Scoring Matchup

PORTLAND, Ore. - The receiving votes College of Idaho men's soccer team took home a pivotal win in the chase for the regular season CCC crown, defeating Multnomah on Friday by a score of 4-3.

The highly physical contest saw a combined 31 fouls, with 17 of them against the College of Idaho. On the offensive side of the ball, Eric Hornung was able to get the scoring started off an assist from Dani Alejos, netting his only goal of the game in the 27th minute to give the Yotes a 1-0 lead, which they would hold into the halftime break.

In the second half, Multnomah's Nicolas Perdomo-Pinzon was able to put the ball past the Yotes keeper just over two minutes in, coming off an assist from Aghlies Lamara. From there, the Yotes would rattle off three straight goals in the span of 14 minutes, with two of them coming courtesy of Pol Romero. The first of Romero's goals came in the 50th minute, as Hugo Guevara was able to feed the ball to Romero to put the Yotes up a goal. In the 57th minute, Maurice Notter took the ball from Joao Bastos, who was able to find an open Romero for his second of the contest, making it a 3-1 game.

Just seven minutes later, Jorge Fernandez found the ball on his foot thanks to a pass from Hornung and was able to convert, which was his 10th of the season, a team high. From there, the Lions were able to put the pressure on the Yotes defense down the stretch. Bashir Zahouri took the ball from Jaren Bowler to score, making it a two goal game. Just four minutes later, Juan Santana scored his only goal of the contest to trim the Yotes lead to a single goal, which would hold to be the final score.

The Yotes will wrap up the regular season tomorrow in Portland against Warner Pacific.
