CALDWELL, Idaho - A hot-shooting first half led College of Idaho women's basketball to a 69-51 win over Northwest on Saturday. The Yotes shot a season-best 60.7% (17 of 28) from the field in the first 20 minutes and scored a season-best 46 first half points.
College of Idaho (10-5, 5-4 CCC) senior
Sienna Riggle recorded a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead four Yotes in double figures in the win. She was joined in double figures by
Mia Austin (15 pts.),
Lexi Mitchell (14 pts.) and
Taryn Riley (12 pts.).
Northwest (3-11, 1-8 CCC) was paced by a 13-point effort from Esther Pappuleas. She was joined in double figures by Katie Fleming, who added 11 points.
Back-to-back baskets by Mitchell erased an early 2-0 deficit as College of Idaho led for the remainder of the game. College of Idaho went on to lead by as much as eight in the opening quarter. The Yotes scored 19 of the final 22 points in the opening half for a season-best lead of 21 points, 46-25, at the halftime break.
College of Idaho stretched the lead to as much as 25 in the second half and the Eagles would manage to get as close as 16 in the final 20 minutes. The Yotes sealed the win, continuing its defensive pressure and holding Northwest to 22.2% (4-for-18) shooting in the final quarter.
Next, College of Idaho will be away from home for its next four games as they will travel to the state of Oregon. The four-game road swing will get underway with a matchup against Bushnell on Friday, January 13.
