CALDWELL, Idaho – A trio of College of Idaho women's basketball players –
Riley Frith,
Mia Austin and
Taryn Riley – each scored 14 to lead College of Idaho to a 62-55 win over Evergreen on Friday night.
College of Idaho (9-5, 4-4 CCC) scored the first eight points of the game and led from nearly start-to-finish in the win. In addition to the three in double figures,
Sienna Riggle had six points and 10 rebounds. Plus, Riley handed out six assists and Austin had three steals in the win for the Yotes.
Evergreen (5-6, 2-6 CCC) was led by a 14-point effort from Monique Bungay, who was joined in double figures by Sydney Vanness, who had 11.
After a scoreless 1:49 to begin the contest, Riley made a jumper to start the game-opening run for the Yotes. College of Idaho stretched the lead to 11, 14-3 when Austin made her first of four 3-pointers on the night. The Geoducks managed to tie the contest with 6:50 left in the 3
rd quarter but a three-point play by
Jada Reed sparked a 12-0 run to end the comeback hopes for the visitors from Olympia, Washington. The Yotes took the lead to as large as 16 in the fourth quarter on its way to the win.
Next, College of Idaho will host Northwest University on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the J.A. Albertson Activity Center. Fans are encouraged to wear a jersey of their favorite athlete.
