College of Idaho Comes Up Short in Upset Bid in 72-67 Loss to No. 23 Southern Oregon

ASHLAND, Ore. – Host No. 23 Southern Oregon scored the first four points of overtime to spoil a comeback attempt by the College of Idaho women's basketball team en route to a 72-67 win on Saturday afternoon.  
 
Late in regulation, College of Idaho scored four unanswered points on a pair of Taryn Riley free throws and a layup by Sienna Riggle to tie the game at 60 and force its second overtime game of the season.  
 
SOU started the overtime with the first four points on its way to the victory. The Yotes managed to cut the deficit to one, 64-63, in the extra period but it was answered by a 3-pointer by Kami Walk, who finished the contest with a game-high 22 points.  
 
College of Idaho (10-9, 5-8 CCC) landed three in double figures with a team-high 20 from Riley. She was joined in double figures by Lexi Mitchell, who had her fourth double double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Riggle, who added 10. 
 
Southern Oregon (14-5, 10-3 CCC) were led by Walk, who had a double double in the win with 12 rebounds to go along with her 22 points. Brianna Phiakhamngon and Danasia Allison were also in double figures, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.   
 
Earlier in the game, College of Idaho scored 14 of the first 19 points to start the fourth quarter for its first lead since the 3:05 mark of the second quarter when Riggle made one of two free throws to put the Yotes ahead 56-55. Then, SOU came back with five straight before four unanswered by the visitors tied the game at 60. A pair of missed shots in the final :40 sent the game to overtime.  
 
Next, College of Idaho is home for four of its next six games beginning with a contest against another nationally ranked team, Lewis-Clark State on Friday at 5 p.m. at the J.A. Albertson Activity Center.
