La Grande, Ore. - The College of Idaho men's soccer team opened the 2022 campaign on Sunday, playing a neutral site contest against the University of Jamestown, dropping the contest by a score of 2-1.
Caio Periera got the scoring started for the Yotes, scoring on a penalty kick to give the Yotes an early 1-0 lead in the 17th minute of the contest, as the Yotes would hold the lead going into halftime. Jamestown took no time at all to score in the second half, netting a goal just two minutes into the half as Austin Shafer was able to find the net on a penalty kick. Shafer would score once more in the 53rd minute off of an assist from Frankie Parkinson to give the Jimmies a 2-1 lead, a lead which would hold to be the final score.
