CALDWELL, Idaho - The Yotes men's soccer team followed up yesterday's loss with a clean sheet against Multnomah, tallying a 3-0 win.
Tom Baynard-Smith had a remarkable performance in goal, not allowing a goal and recording four saves. Multnomah's Michael Appiah had a breakaway off a goal kick only to be stopped by Smith. Joshua Steging took a shot towards an empty net and Smith fully extended to keep the ball from crossing the line en route to a clean sheet.
Eric Hornung got the scoring started early, scoring a goal in the eighth minute off an assist from JJ Osuna, as the Yotes would take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Jorge Fernandez scored his first goal of the season in the 57th minute as the Yotes would take a 2-0 lead.
Ben Garrick followed that up just five minutes later as the Yotes took a 3 goal lead, which would eventually hold.
"Any win in this conference is a good win," added head coach
Thom Baker. "Tough wind in the first half made it a challenging win over a much improved Multnomah squad."
The Yotes will next travel to Eugene to take on Bushnell on September 23.
