EUGENE, Ore. - The College of Idaho men's soccer program posted an impressive victory on the road Friday, taking down conference foe Bushnell by a score of 5-1.
Caio Pereira got the Yotes on the board early, scoring off an assist by
Joao Bastos in the 10th minute, giving the squad an early 1-0 lead.
Eric Hornung followed that up by scoring off an assist by
Hugo dos Santos in the 21st minute, giving the team a 2-0 lead. Pereira wasn't done on the score sheet after tallying his first, as he would score just a few minutes after Hornung as the Yotes would take a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Hugo dos Santos followed up his prior assist, finding the back of the net himself via an assist from
Jorge Fernandez as the Yotes would jump to a four goal lead. Just four minutes after dos Santos' goal,
Joao Bastos added his name to the goal sheet thanks to a feed by
Armando Tapia in the 60th minute of play. Bushnell would get a goal in the 82nd minute as Juan Palacios would hit the left post and the ball would go into the back of the net in the 82nd minute, as the game would end as a 5-1 final.
"It's always nice to start the weekend with three points," added head coach
Thom Baker. "This shows the reward of mental preparation. I am proud of the entire squad for their performance."
The team heads to Salem to take on Corban on Saturday, with a kickoff slated for 4 p.m.
