C of I baseball drops series finale to Corban

CALDWELL, Idaho - Both teams had to brave the rain, snow, and hail today as the Corban Warriors took down the Yotes in the series finale, winning both games, 12-0 and 5-2.

Game one was a masterpiece on the mound from Corban starter Zack Simon. Simon went six out of the seven innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 10 Yotes. The three Yotes hits came from Jonah Hultberg, Skyler Sadora, and Jake Denison.

Offensively for the Warriors, Kyle Clay went a perfect 4-4 in the win. Shortstop Estenio Sede led Corban with three RBI's while going 2-4. Three Warriors had a multi-hit game, with Cale Thompson also contributing two hits, going 2-5.

Game two saw the Yotes drive in two runs late in the game, scoring in the seventh and ninth innings. Weston Miller drove in the first Yote run of the day on a sacrifice fly in the seventh, followed by an Isaiah Castillo double in the ninth. Hultberg and Alex McFarland would contribute 2 hit performances in the loss.

Corban's offense did the bulk of the damage early in the game, jumping out to a 4-0 lead by the second inning. Estenio Sede would drive in the first two runs of the game on a double to left center field, scoring Ryan and Kyle Clay.

Nate Martin earned the game four victory for Corban, going eight innings, allowing eight hits and striking out five. For the Yotes, Luke Brewer would be tabbed with the loss, going two innings and allowing four earned runs.

Next up for the Yotes is a road matchup with fourth ranked Lewis-Clark State in Lewiston next weekend.
