Box Score 2 LEWISTON, Idaho - The College of Idaho baseball team split with the No. 4 Lewis-Clark State Warriors, ending a 23-game losing streak against the Warriors, winning 6-5 in 10 innings in game two.
Game one saw the Warriors jump out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning thanks to an RBI double from A.J. Davis. The Warriors would then strike for three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. The Warriors would score four in the bottom of the seventh, which would propel them to victory.
The Yotes offense would strike in the top of the sixth to tie the game at four.
Ben Gaff drove in the first two of the Yotes runs with a double, followed up with runs by Gaff and
Isaiah Castillo.
Skyler Sadora and
Alex McFarland-Smith would drive in runs in the top of the ninth to round out the Yotes offense.
Cameron Smith was tabbed with the win for the Warriors, going 3.2 innings in relief, allowing two runs and striking out six.
Game two saw multi-hit games from the top of the Yotes lineup, with
Jonah Hultberg, Sadora, and McFarland-Smith all having at least two hits. Sadora got the Yotes started, hitting a home run in the top of the first inning which drove in two runs. McFarland-Smith would drive in a run in the top of the third, as the Yotes would take a 3-1 lead at the time.
The Warriors would take a 4-3 lead in the fourth inning thanks to single from Zach Threlfall. Luke White would round out the Warriors scoring with a home run in the bottom of the tenth inning.Â
The story of the game was the top of the tenth inning. With the game tied at four, Hultberg and Sadora were able to reach base. That brought up McFarland-Smith, who would drive in both runs to take a 6-4 lead, which would turn out to be the game winning runs. The Yotes were able to end the 23-game losing streak to the Warriors, and tallied their first win in Lewiston since 2012.
Colby Durski was tabbed with the win in game two, going five innings in relief and striking out three. Sophomore reliever
Erik Wisenor inches closer to history, notching his 11th save on the season. Wisenor is just three saves away from holding the school record for saves in a career.
