BROOKINGS, S.D. – The College of Idaho women's track and field team wrapped up its participation at the 2022 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships with the All-American performance of
Abbey Shirts (Weiser, Idaho / Weiser HS) in the 1,000m run.
Shirts crossed the line in 2:56.89 to secure fifth place and All-American honors for the second time in her career in an individual event. It is her fourth All-American honor for her career to go along with her efforts as a member of the 4x800m relay at the 2021 indoor and outdoor nationals.
Earlier in the day, she finished just shy of All-American honors in the mile with a personal best time of 5:06.03 en route to ninth-place honors.
As a team, C of I finished 19th out of teams with 14 points.
The outdoor circuit will get underway for C of I on Saturday, March 19 as the Coyotes will take part in the Pacific Northwest Invitational in Corvallis, Oregon.
