Overtime Rally Leads Walla Walla Past C of I Women

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Walla Walla University used a 7-0 run over the final 64 seconds of overtime to stun visiting College of Idaho, 66-62, at Windemuth Court.

Isabella Robles scored a game-high 31 points, including the game-tying 3-pointer with 48 second left in the extra period. On the ensuing possession, Paulina Quintana forced a turnover and converted the fast break lay-up to give the Wolves (2-22, 1-16 CCC) the lead.

C of I (14-12, 8-10) had a chance to tie, but a Sienna Riggle inside shot rimmed out and WWU converted two free throws to seal the victory.

The Yotes had a 58-55 lead with three minutes left in regulation – but Robles canned one of her five 3-point baskets to tie the score, with the two teams missing six shots in the final two minutes. The visitors got consecutive lay-ups from Taryn Riley in the extra period to give C of I the 62-59 lead inside the final minute – but the Coyotes did not score again.

Riley scored a career-high 14 points in the loss, with Kaylee Krusemark scoring 13 points, adding six rebounds and a career-high seven assists. Allie Cannon, Riley Frith and Riggle all scored nine, with Lexi Mitchell leading all players with 19 rebounds.

Quintana scored 12 points in the win for the Wolves, who suited just seven players and converted 45-percent of their field goals on the night.

C of I returns home next weekend, hosting Northwest on Friday and Evergreen on Saturday.
