CALDWELL, Idaho – A resilient effort by The College of Idaho women's basketball team came up short in a 66-64 loss to visiting Northwest on Friday night at the J.A. Albertson Center.
C of I (14-13, 8-11 CCC) went back and forth with the Eagles for the entire contest where it was not decided until a game-tying jumper by
Allie Cannon came up short with just over a second to play. The Yotes placed three players –
Sienna Riggle (19 pts),
Taryn Riley (14 pts) and
Kaylee Krusemark (11 pts) – in double figures in the loss. Riggle added 10 rebounds for her ninth double double of the season. It also was her eighth time in double figures in the last 10 games.
Northwest (15-11, 9-10 CCC) was led by the one-two punch of Sam Vanloo and Grace Meza, who had 17 and 16 points, respectively. Vanloo also added a game-high 11 rebounds and five blocked shots to the winning efforts.
Down two with 10 seconds to play, the Yotes drew an offensive foul on the Eagles' Andie Kristinat which set the stage for the attempt at the game-winning shot. Earlier in the quarter, C of I managed to tie the game for the fourth time when
Averee Porter made a pair of free throws with 3:27 left to play. Four-straight points by the visitors put them ahead for the remainder of the game.
