PORTLAND, Ore. – Kiona Freeland converted a 10-foot baseline jumper with three seconds left in overtime, as Multnomah University rallied for a 68-66 victory over College of Idaho in Lytle Gymnasium.
The Yotes (16-14, 10-12 CCC) took a 56-40 lead late in the third quarter, but went ice cold from the floor – as the Lions outscored C of I 15-1 in the final quarter to force the extra session.
In overtime, the Lions (6-23, 6-16) turned turnovers into lay-ups on consecutive possessions – taking a 66-60 lead with two minutes remaining. C of I answered quickly with 6-straight points, including a
Taryn Riley 3-point play and a game-tying
Allie Cannon lay-up.
Following Freeland's bucket, the Yotes had a chance to tie or win, but MU stole the inbounds pass to secure the win.
Emma Anderson scored a career-high 13 points and Cannon added 10.
Sienna Riggle had nine points and 13 rebounds, with
Lexi Mitchell adding eight points and 13 boards.
C of I held a 58-36 edge on the glass, but converted 28-percent of their field goal attempts and made 28-of-45 free throws.
Bailey Dickerson and Elise Graham each scored 14 in the win for the Lions.
With the loss, C of I will take the No. 8 seed in the upcoming Cascade Conference Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, traveling Tuesday night to meet Lewis-Clark State at 7 p.m. (PT)
