CALDWELL, Idaho –
Abbey Shirts broke the College of Idaho school record in the 1,000-meters, clocking the No. 2 time in the NAIA this season, highlighting Day 1 of the Polar Vortex Classic at Caldwell High.
The junior rolled to a victory in the 10-athlete heat, with her time of 2:54.60 hitting the NAIA "A" qualifying standard. Shirts broke the 6-year school mark of 2:54.89, set by Amy Pfaff at the 2016 NAIA Championships.
C of I had quality days in the sprints, as Chloe Barlyski clocked the second-fastest times of the day in both the 60-meters (8.03 seconds) and 200-meters (26.79), with
Charlotte Bowman posting season-best marks in the 60 (8.15) and 200 (27.12).
Kiersten Lancaster has the top 60-meter hurdle mark (9.10 seconds) heading into tomorrow's finals.
