Riley Frith scored all eight of her points in a 10-0 run to open the fourth quarter, helping The College of Idaho to a key 59-51 victory over Warner Pacific inside C.C. Perry Gymnasium.
The win for the Coyotes (16-13, 10-11 CCC) clinches a winning season, with the squad securing the No. 6 seed in the Cascade Conference Championships with a win tomorrow at Multnomah and a WP loss to Eastern Oregon.
Frith converted a short jumper and consecutive 3-pointers, as C of I erased a 42-40 deficit, building a 50-42 lead with seven minutes left in the game.
The Knights (14-14, 11-10) answered back, as Lynden Harry scored five quick points to pull the hosts within 50-49 with five minutes remaining. However, the C of I defense clamped down, as WP missed their final six shot attempts on the night and had three of their 19 turnovers.
WP bolted to a 9-3 lead in the first four minutes of the contest, but
Allie Cannon hit a long 3-pointer in an 8-point Coyote run that gave the visitors their first lead of the night.
Taryn Riley tied a career-high with 14 points, converting all six of her free throws – including four inside the final minute.
Lexi Mitchell had nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds, with C of I finishing the night 17-of-22 from the line and holding a 35-30 rebound edge.
Hannah Myers led WP with 15 points, but the Knights were held 17 points under their season scoring average.
C of I closes out the regular-season tomorrow night with a road date at Multnomah, beginning at 3 p.m. (PT)
