CALDWELL, Idaho - College of Idaho women's basketball raised its record to 5-0 with a 71-59 win over NCAA Division III Willamette on Saturday.
The Yotes have started the season with five-straight wins for a second-consecutive season. To get to 5-0, it was an all-around effort that saw
Sienna Riggle nearly have a career night with 25 points (career high: 27),
Lexi Mitchell record a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and
Taryn Riley scored 17 points and handed out four assists. Reserve
Bryanna Graham had one of her best games of her young career, scoring seven points and grabbing five rebounds.
The Bearcats (3-2), out of Salem, Oregon, were paced by an 18-point effort from Megan River. She was joined in double figures by Kaitlin Imai, who added 11.
After trailing by one, 17-16, after the opening quarter, College of Idaho held Willamette to 16.7% (2-for-12) shooting and just four points as the Yotes took a 31-21 lead at the break. The Bearcats came back to get within two, 45-43, after the third quarter.
The Yotes scored six of the first eight points of the final quarter and made 13 of 16 free throws on its way to a 12-pont victory.
Next, College of Idaho will look for its second in-season tournament title and its sixth win in a row on Saturday at 5 p.m. when they take on Montana Western in the final game of the Best Western Inn and Suites Classic.
