Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Balanced Scoring and Stifling Defense Lead No. 4College of Idaho to 78-51 Win Over Embry Riddle (Ariz.)

CALDWELL, Idaho - 11-different Yotes scored as No. 4 College of Idaho posted a 78-51 rout of Embry Riddle (Ariz.) in the final game of the Domino's Classic on Saturday evening.

The balanced scoring and a stifling defensive effort made the right recipe for success as College of Idaho has now won three in a row and its last 19 straight at the friendly confines of the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

After starting the game with 48.3% shooting effort from the field, Embry Riddle was victim to cold shooting and intense defense pressure by the host Yotes as they shot just 23.3% (7-for-30) from the field in the final 20 minutes. The Eagles were able to land a pair of players in double figures including Dennis Pomazanov, who had a game-high 16 and Chase Verdugo added 12.

College of Idaho (3-1) was led in scoring by a 12-point effort by Drew Wyman. Four-different Yotes – Tyler Robinett, Jake O'Neil, Samaje Morgan and Straton Rogers – had nine points in the win. The game also saw redshirt freshmen Whitt Miller and Bryan St. Clair score their first collegiate points. Miller accounted for six points on a pair of three pointers and St. Clair added five to the winning efforts.

The game was tied on nine occasions in the first 20 minutes but when the Yotes' Johnny Radford made a layup with 1:13 left to go in the opening half that put C of I ahead 34-33 and for the remainder of the game. College of Idaho ended the first half, scoring the final four points.

The Yotes scored 16 of the first 23 points to start the second half as they pushed the lead to double digits for the remainder of the game. College of Idaho ended the game on a 7-2 run, including a 3-pointer for the first collegiate points by St. Clair that brought the crowd to its feet in the JAAC.

Next, College of Idaho will travel to Northwest Nazarene University on Tuesday night for an exhibition game at the Johnson Sports Center as part of the United Heritage Mayors' Cup. Tip off is scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
