College of Idaho Takes Down Local Rival NNU, 70-67 in Exhibition Game

NAMPA, Idaho – Sophomore Drew Wyman scored eight of his 14 points in the extra period to propel College of Idaho to a 70-67 win over local rival Northwest Nazarene University in the first game of The United Heritage Insurance Mayors' Cup in an exhibition contest on Tuesday night. The win for the Yotes is the first in the series history in Nampa since the 2014-15 season.
 
College of Idaho (3-1) led for nearly the entire contest as they held an advantage for 37:25 of the contest. Wyman was joined in double figures by Johnny Radford, who shared in game-high honors with 18 points as he knocked down four 3-pointers in the win. Samaje Morgan and Wyman each had four assists and Tyler Robinett had three steals to go along with eight points.
 
NNU (2-2) was paced by an 18-point effort from Tru Allen, who made 4 of 16 shots from the field and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line. Yaru Harvey added 10 points in the loss. Gabriel Murphy grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds in the loss.
 
After needing an extra five minutes to settle the game, a three-point play by Wyman put the visitors from Caldwell back in front 61-60 in the extra period. The Great Falls, Montana native regained the lead for the Yotes for the second-straight possession in the extra period as College of Idaho forced a shot clock violation by the host Nighthawks.
 
With the game tied for the fourth time in the extra period, it was the defense by Wyman that turned the momentum back over to the visitors as Robinett with four fouls drew a charge with 1:38 left in the contest. On the ensuring possession, Wyman knocked down a pair of free throws to put College of Idaho ahead 67-65 and for the remainder of contest.
