Jon Schofield - who started the game in the Wildcat formation - called his own number again on 2nd and goal and lunged into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown to lift the No. 12 College of Idaho football team to a 28-24 win over Southern Oregon on Saturday afternoon.

Andy Peters led C o f I down the field with a pair of key third-down conversions. Peters connected with a six-yard completion to
Brock Richardson on a 3rd and 1 play to extend the game and the drive. After a 10-yard rush by Peters, a penalty on the Raiders extended the drive with :50 left to play.Â
The connection between Richardson and Peters was in sync on two more completions that took the ball down to the four-yard line. Next, a penalty on SOU and after an incompletion by the Yotes set the stage on second down for the game-winning touchdown.Â
Southern Oregon (3-5, 3-5 Frontier) was led by quarterback Blake Asciutto, who completed 22 of 36 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns. Raiders running back Christian Quira ran 21 times for 65 yards and a touchdown. Jake Regino was involved in 13 tackles to lead the SOU defense.
Down 21-14 at halftime, College of Idaho tied the game when
Jacob Arms stepped in front of the Asciutto pass for a pick six to tie the game at 21. It is the second time this season that the Yotes have intercepted a pass by the Raiders and returned it for a touchdown. The Raiders regained the lead with 3:03 left in the fourth quarter when Cesar Ruiz made a 30-yard field to put SOU ahead 24-21.
Peters completed 18 of 29 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown, plus
Allamar Alexander ran eight times for 71 yards and a touchdown. Alexander got the Yotes on the scoreboard in the first quarter when he ran for a season-high 54-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
Keegan Croteau had nine tackles and Arms added eight stops to go along with his interception.
Next, College of Idaho will travel to La Grande to face Eastern Oregon on Saturday at 1 p.m. Earlier this season, the Yotes defeated EOU, 41-0 on September 24.
