Garrick Hat Trick Leads Yotes Past Bushnell, 7-0

CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho had 34 shots as part of a one-sided 7-0 win over Bushnell at Simplot Stadium.

The Coyotes (5-1, 3-1 CCC) recorded their highest-scoring game since an 8-0 road win at Walla Walla in 2016, with half of their shot attempts on frame.

The Beacons (1-6, 1-3) had their best chance to get on the board in the 15th minute with a shot from Kyle Aure that went too high of the goal.

C of I started the offensive firepower 19 minutes in with a Kristian Quiros pass to Lucas Thorne at the back post to put C of I up 1-0.  Quiros would add another assist in the 27th minute after a shot off the crossbar found the foot of Emil Powles to double the lead.

In the 35th minute, Ben Garrick went to work with a tap-in goal off a joint assist from Bernardo Zanatta and Jeremy Guimbretiere. Four minutes later, Garrick found the ball in the penalty box off a rebound to secure the first half brace.

C of I put more pressure on Bushnell in the second half after the Yotes were fouled in the Beacon's penalty box. On his birthday, Caio Pereira buried the penalty kick to get his fifth goal of the season. In the 65th minute, C of I would be fouled 25 yards out from Bushnell's goal. Garrick, taking the free kick, shot over the Bushnell wall and into the back of the net to grab the hat trick – the first by a Coyote since Carter Perry vs. Simpson in 2017.
The Yotes got another penalty kick attempt in the 75th minute, with Alexius Westlund scoring his first career goal.

Keepers Zac Dean and Joey Umpleby did not face a shot on goal en route to the shutout, while Bushnell keeper Julian Hernandez made 10 saves.

C of I had a 17-0 edge in shots on goal, with the Yotes outnumbering Bushnell in corner kicks 4-3.

The Yotes are back at home next Sunday at Noon for a Homecoming Week match-up against Eastern Oregon.
