PORTLAND, Ore. - Warner Pacific capitalized on two breakthrough chances in the second half to beat College of Idaho, 2-0, at the Eastside Timbers Soccer Complex.
Â
The Yotes (3-1, 1-1 CCC) kept things even in the first half thanks to a season-high seven saves from keeper
Drew Morris. On offense, C of I's best chance at goal came from a
Vitor Matos shot that was saved by Warner Pacific keeper Alexis Calderilla-Hurtado.
Â
In the second half, the Knights (5-1, 2-0 CCC) were able to break the tie in the 54th minute after a Calderilla-Hurtado long ball penetrated C of I's penalty box. Forward Arturo Bahena would take care of the rest, as he picked off the ball in the air and slotted away his third goal of the season.
Â
C of I looked to bounce back with a team-high five shots from
Liam Kelly. Warner Pacific, however, would supply an insurance goal in the 89th minute with a solo drive by Bahena to give the Knights the 2-0 advantage.
Â
The Yotes return to Caldwell for their home opener Friday at 4 p.m. against Corban.
