AUSTIN, Texas – College of Idaho swimmer
Caroline Yannelli was honored today as second-team selection to the NAIA Academic All-America ® Women's At-Large Team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Yannelli earns the honor for the second-straight year (earning first-team honors in 2020) and joins former Coyotes Mckayla Stevens and
Maddy Kelly as two-time Academic All-Americans from the women's swim team. She became the first 3-time Academic All-District 4 selection last month.
The CoSIDA NAIA Academic All-America ® At-Large Team boasted an average grade point average of 3.93, including four student-athletes with a 4.00 or higher grade point average.
The at-large team for the CoSIDA NAIA Academic All-America ® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women, along with bowling, crew and field hockey for women. To be nominated, student-athletes were required to be at least a sophomore in eligibility, maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve on their team. Those selected in June to one of the four first-team Academic All-District teams comprised the final ballot for selection for the Academic All-America ® Team.
Yannelli, a senior from Salt Lake City, was a 15-time NAIA All-American - the most swimming All-America honors in program history. The history and health sciences major holds the C of I school record in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and was a part of all five school-record relay teams.
