NAMPA, Idaho / PORTLAND, Ore. –
Stephen Campbell led a big day in the field events for The College of Idaho men's track and field team at the Canis Latrans Invite and Multi at Bohner Track, while
Sean Wagnon hit the NAIA "B" mark in the 5,000-meters at the Portland Twilight at Lewis & Clark College.
Campbell dominated the shot put, with his winning mark of 16.25 meters (53 feet, 3.75 inches) the No. 2 mark in program history – five feet ahead of his closest competition. He also added a second-place finish in the discus (44.54 meters / 146 feet, 1 inch).
Nate Griswold had a big day in the long jump, logging a personal-best mark of 6.44 meters (21 feet, 5 inches) – establishing a new Cascade Conference qualifying mark.
Alec Kuzmack added a personal-best mark of 46.57 meters (152 feet, 9 inches) in the hammer – 16 feet further than his previous best effort.
Tanner Sackman also hit the CCC standard in the shot put (11.86 meters / 38 feet, 11 inches).
On the track,
Hunter Gilbert had the Yotes lone win, claiming the 400-meters (52.19 seconds).
Kendrik Caldwell successfully completed the first five events of the decathlon, scoring 3,213 points to sit in third-place overall. He had a solid 6.47 meter leap in the long jump and won the high jump with a mark of 1.79 meters.
In Oregon, both Coyote runners in the 5,000-meters had personal best times – with Wagnon hitting the provisional national mark with his time of 14:56.12.
Braden Heath, competing in the same heat, missed the "B" cut by just 13-hundredths of a second (14:59.13).
Tomorrow, the final five events of the decathlon will start at Caldwell High School at 10 a.m.
