GULF SHORES, Ala. –
Caleb Brown used big efforts in the discus, pole vault and javelin to post a personal best score of 6,359 points in the decathlon, placing ninth overall on Day 2 of the NAIA Men's Track & Field National Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium.
Brown opened the day with a career-best 110-meter hurdle time of 16.40 seconds and followed with a fourth-place effort in the discus (38.16 meters). The Coyote logged a personal best clearance of 4.10 meters in the pole vault, with his mark of 46.97 meters in the javelin good enough for fifth-place. He closed out the event with a time of 4:42.32 in the 1,500-meters – climbing from 12th-place to ninth.
Two other C of I athletes competed in preliminary races on Day 2 – as
Lane Maher placed 26th overall in the 110-meter hurdles (14.88 seconds), with
Sean Wagnon took 33rd in the 5,000-meters (15:26.52).
The meet closes tomorrow, as a trio of throwers –

Alec Kuzmack with compete in the shot put.
