MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – A big day in the field events helped The College of Idaho men's track and field team win the Jenn Boyman Invitational, hosted by Linfield College, at Maxwell Field.
Competing against five other schools from the Northwest, the Yotes finished the meet with 53 team points, ahead of Linfield (37) and George Fox (35.5)
A duel between
Zach Rickard and
Bryan Terry in the hammer throw started the day off on the right foot for the Yotes – Rickard winning the event with a school-record mark of 54.13 meters (177 feet, 7 inches) and Terry right behind him at 53.63 meters (175 feet, 11 inches) – the fifth-best mark in program history. Both athletes hit the NAIA "A" qualifying standard in the event.
Stephen Campbell completed a Coyote sweep with wins in the shot put and discus – hitting the NAIA "B" mark in the shot put (15.52 meters / 50 feet, 11 inches) and posting a mark of 45.81 meters (150 feet, 3 inches) in the discus.
Kade Setoki also met the Cascade Conference provisional standard in the long jump, with his leap of 6.51 meters (21 feet, 4.25 inches) the best mark of the season by a Coyote.
On the oval,
Casey Senethavilay continued his solid 2021, winning the 100-meters (11.39 seconds), with
Trajan Holtzen clocking a season-best time of 4:09.11 in the 1,500-meters.
Lane Maher won the 400-meter hurdles (56.76 seconds) and took second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.10), while running the lead leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay team (3:32.83).
The Coyotes are tentatively scheduled to compete next at the Bengal Invitational in Pocatello on April 17.
