ASHLAND, Ore. – College of Idaho athletes dominated Day 1 of the Raider Invitational, winning six individual events – including a school-record performance by
Catylynn Duff in the hammer throw – at Raider Stadium.
In addition,
Kiersten Lancaster started the day with a sixth-place finish in the heptathlon, as the Cascade Conference Multi-Event Championships came to a close on the same track.
Duff dominated the field, posting the No. 2 hammer mark in the NAIA this season – with her heave of 55.29 meters (181 feet, 4 inches) nearly seven feet further than her previous record.
She was joined in the win column by
Payton Durocher, who posted a personal-best time of 58.52 seconds in the 400-meters, along with
Larissa Mauer, who claimed the title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:17.01).
Abbey Shirts and
Ellyse Tingelstad went 1-2 in the 1,500-meters, with both Shirts (4:50.07) and Tingelstad (4:54.23) hitting the CCC provisional mark. The same happened in the 10,000-meters, as
Erin Moyer (39:03.72) and
Chaye Uptmor (40:51.65) punched their tickets to the league meet by taking the top two places.
In the field events,
Emily Fox had a big day in the hammer, recording a personal-best mark of 48.25 meters (158 feet, 3 inches) – just 25 centimeters from the NAIA "B" standard. In addition,
Brinley Reed won the triple jump with a season-best mark of 10.50 meters (34 feet, 5.5 inches).
At the Multi-Event Championships, Lancaster used a sixth-place finish in the javelin (31.67 meters) and a third-place finish in the 800-meters (2:28.22) to record 4,117 points – earning C of I three points to start next month's league meet.
Lancaster, along with
Sophi Clay, who placed tenth with 3,972 points, and
Roby Young, who took 12th with 3,937 points – all hit the NAIA "B" standard in the heptathlon.
