ASHLAND, Ore. –
Caleb Brown placed third overall in the decathlon to earn six key points to start the Cascade Conference Championships, while
Bryan Terry broke the hammer throw school record on Day 1 of the Raider Invitational at Raider Stadium.
In the morning, Brown parlayed a huge opening day on Thursday to a new personal-best score of 6,301 points – the seventh-highest decathlon score in the NAIA this season. The senior took second in the discus (39.34 meters), third in the 1,500-meters (4:40) and placed fourth in the pole vault (3.90)

Nate Griswold took 11th overall with 5,743 points – including a second-place effort in the 1,500-meters (4:38).
Following the multi-events, the 2-day invitational began, with Terry unleashing a heave of 54.48 meters (178 feet, 9 inches), breaking the school mark and placing second overall.
C of I added eight new CCC meet standards on the afternoon – including a 1-2 finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by
Braden Heath (9:39.78) and
Ian Jackson (9:54.89).
Four runners hit the conference mark in the 10,000-meters –
Sean Wagnon (32:07.17),
Cole Campbell (32:44.77),
Josh Fritz (33:21.95) and
Will Kracaw (33:41.34), while
Lane Maher qualified in the 400-meters (50.27).
Jonathan Gale also punched his ticket to the conference championships in the triple jump (12.13 meters, 39 feet, 9.75 inches).
