SPOKANE, Wash. –
Stephen Campbell smashed The College of Idaho shot put school record and sprinter
Casey Senethavilay clocked a pair of seasonal-best times in the sprints, helping the Yotes to a third-place finish at the Sam Adams Classic, hosted by Whitworth University, at Boppel Track.
Campbell broke the school mark with his third and final attempt in the finals, winning the event with his heave of 16.43 meters (53 feet, 11 inches). He was one of three C of I throwers to surpass the 50-foot mark, as both
Bryan Terry (15.41 meters / 50 feet, 6.75 inches) and
Alec Kuzmack (15.39 meters / 50 feet, 6 inches) achieved the feat – with Kuzmack hitting the NAIA "B" standard.
Terry added a season-best mark in the discus (47.30 meters / 155 feet, 2 inches) – missing the NAIA "B" cut by 30 centimeters.
Senethavilay was outstanding on the oval – recording a season-best 100-meter time of 11.14 seconds and following it up with a time of 22.51 seconds in the 200-meters.
The Yotes also got a Cascade Conference qualifying time from
Daniel Butler in the 3,000-meters steeplechase (10:03.75).
In the field events, two athletes hit CCC provisional marks –
Amari Evans in the long jump (6.41 meters / 21 feet, 0.5 inches) and
Mark Sullivan in the pole vault (4.06 meters / 13 feet, 3.75 inches).
C of I heads next weekend to Ashland, Ore., for both the CCC Multi-Event Championships and the Raider Invitational.
