LA GRANDE, Ore. - College of Idaho's
Caleb Brown recorded a personal best score of 6,030 points in the decathlon, placing second overall at the Eastern Oregon Multi-Meet, hosted at Banner Bank Track.
Brown crushed his former top mark by nearly 500 points - earning victories in four of the 10 events, winning the high jump (1.90 meters), the discus (36.56 meters), the javelin (44.64 meters) and the 1,500-meters (4:43.79). He also cleared 3.90 meters in the pole vault, a new career mark.
His score surpassed the NAIA "B" mark in the decathlon, which was set at 5,600 points.
The remainder of the Coyote team will compete this weekend at the Boyman Invitational, hosted by Linfield College, in McMinnville, Ore.
