SPOKANE, Wash. – Three College of Idaho throwers hit NAIA provisional national marks and eight new Cascade Conference meet qualifying marks were established, as the Coyote men's track and field team participated at the Whitworth Invitational, inside the Pine Bowl.
Competing for the first time outside the Treasure Valley, the trio of
Zach Rickard,
Bryan Terry and
Stephen Campbell had a big day with the heavy implements, all posting personal or seasonal best marks.
Rickard started the trip off with a massive 52.63 meter (172 feet, 8 inches) heave of the hammer, the third-best mark in program history and good enough for the NAIA "B" standard.
Terry and Campbell, who have battled for the shot put school record both indoors and outdoors, dueled again, with Terry posting a throw of 15.54 meters (51 feet), just ahead of Campbell (15.25 meters / 50 feet, 0.5 inches) – both good enough for "B" cuts. The duo also hit the CCC standard with in the discus, as Terry posted a C of I season-best effort of 46.57 meters (152 feet, 9 inches).
In the jumps,
Devyn Morris had a big debut for C of I, winning the triple jump with a conference qualifying mark of 13.49 meters (44 feet, 3.25 inches).
On the track,
Casey Senethavilay and
Declan Friedli posted solid times in the sprints – Senethavilay clocking 11.22 seconds in the 100-meters and 22.84 seconds in the 200-meters, with Friedli posting a time of 11.50 seconds in the 100 and hitting the conference mark with his time of 22.91 seconds in the 200.
Lane Maher lowered his CCC mark in the 400-meter hurdles (55.03 seconds), while placing second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.09).
The Coyotes will next compete at the Jenn Boyman Invitational, hosted by Linfield College, next Saturday afternoon.
