CALDWELL, Idaho –
Lane Maher won both hurdle races and hit the NAIA "B" qualifying time, part of a great weekend by The College of Idaho men's track and field team at the 2-day Great I-84 Compromise of 2021 at Caldwell High.
The Yotes, who competed in the four throw events yesterday in La Grande, combined to record 14 Cascade Conference Championship qualifying times.
Maher had a big day, clocking the second-fastest time in program history in winning the 110-meter hurdles (14.95), following it up later in the day with a victory in the 400-meter hurdles (55.52). His 110-meter time was 2-tenths of a second of the automatic qualifying mark.
In the sprints,
Casey Senethavilay picked up a win in the 200-meters (22.54) and placed second in the 100-meters (11.20) – hitting the conference provisional mark. Also earning a win on the track was
Trajan Holtzen in the 800-meters (2:02.03).
In the jumps,
Caleb Brown recorded a personal-best mark in the pole vault (3.90 meters / 12 feet, 9.5 inches), while both
Kade Setoki and
Jacob Russell shared the title in the high jump (1.81 meters / 5 feet, 11.5 inches) – all hitting conference marks.
In Saturday's throwing events
Zach Rickard earned a win in the hammer throw with a personal best mark of 50.63 meters (166 feet, 3 inches) – missing the NAIA "B" standard by just 37 centimeters. Teammate
Alec Kuzmack also had a big day – winning the shot put (13.43 meters / 44 feet, 0.75 inches) and placing second in the discus (42.98 meters / 141 feet).
C of I will head next weekend to Spokane, competing at the Whitworth Invitational.
